A practical conversion audit for a service website

How to find the gaps between website traffic and qualified enquiries.

When a service website receives visitors but produces few useful enquiries, redesigning everything is rarely the best first step. A conversion audit follows the customer journey, identifies uncertainty and prioritises the smallest changes most likely to improve response.

01

Check message continuity

Compare the promise in search results, advertising or social posts with the landing page. Visitors should immediately recognise that they reached the right business, service and location. A mismatch creates abandonment before visual quality has a chance to help.

02

Review evidence and risk

Look for proof close to important claims: relevant work, process detail, client context, credentials, timelines and clear business information. Identify questions a cautious buyer still has to ask before feeling comfortable making contact.

03

Inspect the enquiry path

Test every form and contact action on desktop and mobile. Reduce unnecessary fields, explain the expected response and preserve the referring page in WhatsApp or email links so the team understands what interested the visitor.

04

Measure qualified outcomes

Do not optimise only for button clicks. Track completed enquiries, booked calls and sales-qualified conversations, then compare them with landing pages and traffic sources. Conversion improvement should increase useful opportunities rather than simply producing more low-intent messages.
